Ziegler / Kazak carpets
One of the subgroups of popular and patinated oriental carpets is the Ziegler carpets. Originally from Afghanistan, the carpet is originally called Chobi. The name Ziegler was spread in Europe after a contemporary manufacturer and distributor. They are made by hand-knotting, and the dye used for colouring is obtained from various trees and plants (chobi means wood). They have an antique effect, a more restrained colour scheme and pattern. They are extremely popular all over the world. This carpet is knotted in an Afghan-populated area of Pakistan.
