Hand woven Afghan wool Chobi Kilim rug 146x103 cm

How the 146 × 103 cm woollen Kilim is made

This Chobi Kilim textile is 103 cm wide and 146 cm long. Alongside its off-white and orange colours, Afghan origins and hand woven construction are its defining features. The rug is made from wool and measures 146 × 103 cm, the dimensions of the product shown.

The video introduces the making and origins of Chobi Kilim rugs.

In a hand woven Chobi Kilim, the warp yarns stretched on the loom and the weft yarns crossing them together form the textile. The surface is flat-woven, without a knotted pile. The rug's wool material is therefore an integral part of the woven structure. Its approximately 4–5 mm thickness characterises the thin construction. The production video and the photograph below show this Afghan craft background.

Once removed from the loom, Chobi Kilim rugs are washed four times during finishing and then dried. This completes the preparation after weaving. The finished rug is approximately 4–5 mm thick. The production illustration relates to the making process; the specific rug's colours and details can be seen in its own product photographs.

Details of the 146 × 103 cm woven wool rug

The 146 × 103 cm rug covers approximately 1.50 m². It is made from 100% wool, with off-white and orange tones defining its colour scheme. The wool yarns form the rug's surface, so cleaning must take account of both the material and the hand woven structure. The name Chobi Kilim refers to this Afghan woven rug type.

The rug's own product photographs show its specific appearance. Close-ups show details of the wool surface, while full views show the entire woven rug. The photograph included in the description complements the introduction to the Chobi Kilim rug type.

Caring for the Chobi Kilim rug

Regularity and gentle methods are important when caring for a woollen Kilim rug. Remove dust using your vacuum cleaner's lowest setting. For small, fresh stains, use only a slightly damp cloth and do not soak the rug. Treating the mark promptly, before it dries, is advisable.

If you choose a rug cleaner suitable for wool, test it first on a small, inconspicuous area. Leave heavier soiling or a full clean to a specialist. We do not recommend beating the Chobi Kilim with a carpet beater, as this can damage its hand woven structure. The rug-beating illustration is a reminder to avoid this method.

The rug's delivery time within the EU is 3–7 working days. Delivery is free on orders of €173 or more and costs €14 below the threshold.
