Arijana Shaal rug 242x352 – handmade Oriental rug

Arijana Shaal rug: characteristics of the knotted pile

The 242 × 352 cm Arijana Shaal rug originates from Afghanistan. It is handmade with a wool pile and is 7–8 mm thick. The rug is burgundy and brown.

The Arijana Shaal rug is 242 cm wide, 352 cm long and 7–8 mm thick. The knot density is approximately 250 000 knots/m². The knot count is given per square metre, allowing comparison with handmade rugs of different sizes on this basis. This figure does not represent the total number of knots in the entire rug. This size may also be suitable for a living room.

The knotted part of the rug is made of wool. The warp is made of cotton. The fibres of the handmade pile lie in a particular direction. Changes in lighting and viewing angle can therefore make the overall appearance lighter or darker. Such differences between photographs taken from opposite ends of the rug are related to the pile direction.

This Arijana Shaal Oriental rug, also known as a Khorjin rug, belongs to the modern Persian rug category. It is a handmade wool rug of Afghan origin.

The 242 cm width and 352 cm length refer to this particular rug. Alongside the illustration of the rug type, please also review the photographs of the actual product.

Caring for the Arijana Shaal rug

For regular care of the Arijana Shaal rug, use your vacuum cleaner on low suction. Work in the direction of the pile and avoid rubbing the wool surface vigorously. Remember to keep the area beneath the rug clean; moving the rug occasionally allows you to remove accumulated dust underneath.

Treat fresh soiling as soon as possible with a clean, slightly damp cloth. Do not rub the stain vigorously or soak the rug. Choose only a cleaner suitable for wool and follow its instructions for use. Test on a less visible area first; for stubborn stains or more extensive cleaning, consult a professional experienced with handmade rugs.
