Arijana Shaal rug 291x389 – handmade Oriental rug

Arijana Shaal rug: characteristics of the knotted pile

The 291 × 389 cm Arijana Shaal rug originates from Afghanistan. It is handmade with a wool pile and is 7–8 mm thick. Burgundy and brown shades define the rug's colour appearance.

The Arijana Shaal rug is 291 cm wide, 389 cm long and 7–8 mm thick. Its knot density is approximately 250 000 knots/m². The knot count is given per square metre, allowing comparison with handmade rugs of different sizes on this basis. This figure does not represent the total number of knots in the entire rug. The rug may also suit a living room, provided the available space accommodates its dimensions.

The knotted part of the rug is made of wool. The warp is made of cotton. The knotted fibres form the surface of the rug that you walk on. The direction of the fibres affects how they reflect light: the same surface may appear lighter from one end and darker from the opposite direction. Please bear this in mind when comparing.

This Arijana Shaal Oriental rug, also known as a Khorjin rug, belongs to the modern Persian rug category. It is a handmade wool rug of Afghan origin.

The 291 cm width and 389 cm length refer to this particular rug. Alongside the illustration of the rug type, please also review the photographs of the actual product.

Arijana Shaal rug: gentle care

Regular, gentle vacuuming is the basis of caring for the Arijana Shaal rug. Set the vacuum cleaner to low suction and move the head in the direction of the wool pile. Keep the area beneath the rug clean as well. Avoid vigorous rubbing of the wool surface and, where possible, treat soiling before it dries.

For spilled liquids, first blot up the moisture with a clean cloth. Do not rub the wool surface vigorously or use a cleaning product unless you know it is suitable for wool. Always test your chosen cleaner on a less visible area first. Extensive or stubborn soiling, as well as full cleaning, is best left to a professional.
