Chobi Kilim 138 × 103 cm: origins and production

This Chobi Kilim rug is offered in a 138 × 103 cm size, in red and turquoise. The Afghan hand woven textile is 103 cm wide and 138 cm long. It is made from wool yarns and belongs to the Chobi Kilim type. The product's photograph series shows both the whole rug and its details.

The video introduces the making and origins of Chobi Kilim rugs.

A Chobi Kilim is a wool rug with a woven structure. Its textile surface is created by passing crosswise weft yarns between the warp yarns on the loom. This flat-woven construction has no additional knotted pile. The rug's approximately 4–5 mm thickness therefore describes the woven textile itself. The Afghan Kilim shown here was made by hand from wool yarns. The weaving illustration helps explain the production method.

After weaving, the Chobi Kilim also undergoes washing and drying. This type is washed four times and the woven textile is then dried. The finished rug's thickness of around 4–5 mm reflects its thin construction. Washing during production is different from subsequent stain treatment at home, which requires a gentle approach.

Material of the 138 × 103 cm Chobi Kilim

This 138 × 103 cm woven rug covers approximately 1.42 m². The 100% wool material features a red and turquoise colour scheme. The Chobi Kilim is an Afghan rug type. The flat-woven construction and wool material together determine the care it needs: regular, gentle dust removal and careful stain treatment.

The rug's own product photographs show its specific appearance. Close-ups show details of the wool surface, while full views show the entire woven rug. The photograph included in the description complements the introduction to the Chobi Kilim rug type.

Caring for and ordering the hand woven rug

Regularity and gentle methods are important when caring for a woollen Kilim rug. Remove dust using your vacuum cleaner's lowest setting. For small, fresh stains, use only a slightly damp cloth and do not soak the rug. Treating the mark promptly, before it dries, is advisable.

If you choose a rug cleaner suitable for wool, test it first on a small, inconspicuous area. Leave heavier soiling or a full clean to a specialist. We do not recommend beating the Chobi Kilim with a carpet beater, as this can damage its hand woven structure. The rug-beating illustration is a reminder to avoid this method.
