Hand woven Afghan wool Chobi Kilim rug 261x347 cm

The video introduces the making and origins of Chobi Kilim rugs.

Chobi Kilim rug measuring 261 × 347 cm

This Chobi Kilim rug in orange, beige and turquoise is 261 cm wide and 347 cm long. It was hand woven from wool in Afghanistan. Based on its two side measurements, it covers approximately 9.06 m². When choosing its position, take this exact size into account and compare it with the available floor space.

During hand weaving, the warp threads stretched across the loom are interlaced with crosswise weft threads. This creates the Kilim's flat-woven structure. The approximate 4–5 mm thickness relates to the woven construction; the surface has no additional knotted pile. The Chobi Kilim name identifies this Afghan rug type.

Wool material and handmade construction

During production, weaving is followed by washing and thorough drying. This finishing treatment is part of production; subsequent home care requires gentle methods suited to wool and hand weaving. The product's own photo series shows the piece available to buy, while the images within the description illustrate the rug type and production process.

Caring for a hand woven Kilim

For regular dust removal, use a low vacuum setting and avoid the fringes. Keep the surface beneath the rug clean too. Beating with a carpet beater can damage the hand woven structure, so do not use this method.

For a fresh stain, blot up the spillage promptly without rubbing. Use a slightly damp cloth and avoid soaking the rug. Test a wool-safe cleaner on a small, less visible area first. For stubborn stains or a full clean, seek help from a specialist experienced in handling wool rugs. Tell them the rug's material, how it was made and the nature of the soiling.

Avoid the beating method shown in the picture when cleaning a Kilim rug.
