Hand woven Afghan Chobi Kilim rug 207x292 cm

Hand weaving the 207 × 292 cm Chobi Kilim

This Chobi Kilim rug is offered in a 207 × 292 cm size, in red and green. The Afghan hand woven textile is 207 cm wide and 292 cm long. It is made from wool yarns and belongs to the Chobi Kilim type. The product's photograph series shows both the whole rug and its details.

The video introduces the making and origins of Chobi Kilim rugs.

Interweaving wool yarns on a loom creates the Chobi Kilim's surface. Crosswise weft yarns interlace with the stretched warp yarns to form the flat textile. The Kilim has no separate knotted pile; its surface is formed by the weave itself. In this rug, that structure is approximately 4–5 mm thick. Its hand woven construction is combined with wool material and Afghan origins.

After weaving, the Chobi Kilim rug is washed and then dried. In favourable weather, drying takes place outdoors; at other times, fans assist the process. These finishing stages are part of production. Subsequent care at home requires gentle cleaning of the wool rug, avoiding soaking.

Details of the 207 × 292 cm woven wool rug

The 207 × 292 cm wool rug covers approximately 6.04 m². The wool yarns form the rug's surface, so cleaning must take account of both the material and the hand woven structure. The name Chobi Kilim refers to this Afghan woven rug type.

The rug's own photograph series includes full views and close-up images. View these together when choosing the rug. The illustration accompanying the description introduces the Chobi Kilim type; the specific rug's details are shown in its product photographs.

Caring for the woollen Kilim

For regular dust removal, use your vacuum cleaner on a low setting, preferably its lowest. The wool material of this 207 × 292 cm Chobi Kilim requires gentle handling. Treat small stains with a slightly damp cloth, without excessive wetting. If the rug becomes stained, do not wait until the mark has dried completely.

Test a wool-suitable cleaner first on a small, inconspicuous area. Seek professional help for a thorough clean or stubborn soiling. Avoid beating out dust: treating a hanging hand woven textile this way can damage its structure. The cleaning photograph illustrates the method to avoid.

Avoid the rug-beating method shown in the photograph when caring for a woollen Kilim.
