Hand woven Afghan wool Chobi Kilim rug 196x296 cm

Chobi Kilim 196 × 296 cm: origins and production

This Chobi Kilim rug is offered in a 196 × 296 cm size, in red and blue. The Afghan hand woven textile is 196 cm wide and 296 cm long. It is made from wool yarns and belongs to the Chobi Kilim type. The product's photograph series shows both the whole rug and its details.

The video introduces the making and origins of Chobi Kilim rugs.

A Kilim is a flat-woven textile whose surface consists of intersecting warp and weft yarns. The warp yarns are stretched on the loom, and the weft yarns are worked between them. The textile has no knotted pile, so the weave itself forms its structure. In this Chobi Kilim, this production method is combined with wool yarns. The approximately 4–5 mm thickness describes the thin construction of the entire textile, rather than the length of a separate pile layer.

Washing and drying are the final steps in making a Chobi Kilim. In favourable weather, the washed textiles are dried in the sun; at other times, fans assist the process. The finished rug then joins CarpetDepo's range. Choose a gentle method for care at home and entrust full cleaning to a specialist.

Details of the 196 × 296 cm woven wool rug

The Chobi Kilim rug shown here is made from wool. Its 196 × 296 cm dimensions give an area of approximately 5.80 m². This rug belongs to the Chobi Kilim type. Both a wool-suitable product and gentle handling of the hand woven surface are important when cleaning it.

The rug's own product photographs show its specific appearance. Close-ups show details of the wool surface, while full views show the entire woven rug. The photograph included in the description complements the introduction to the Chobi Kilim rug type.

Caring for and ordering the hand woven rug

Choose a careful cleaning method for this hand woven wool rug. A vacuum cleaner on low suction can be used for everyday dust removal. Use a slightly damp cloth for small marks, taking care to avoid soaking the textile. Whenever possible, treat stains before they dry.

Even a wool-suitable cleaner should only be used after testing it on a small, inconspicuous area. If the entire Kilim needs cleaning or a stain is difficult to treat, seek professional help. Hanging up the textile and beating it with a carpet beater can damage the hand weaving. The accompanying photograph illustrates this cleaning method, which should be avoided.

Avoid the rug-beating method shown in the photograph when caring for a woollen Kilim.
