Hand woven Afghan wool Chobi Kilim rug 202x286 cm

Chobi Kilim 202 × 286 cm: origins and production

This 202 × 286 cm woollen Kilim rug, in orange and blue, belongs to the Chobi Kilim type. Its 286 cm length and 202 cm width are the measurements of this specific rug. It was hand woven in Afghanistan using wool yarns. The rug belongs to the Afghan Chobi Kilim family.

The video introduces the making and origins of Chobi Kilim rugs.

The rug's flat-woven construction is one of the Kilim's defining structural characteristics. The wool textile is made on a loom by interlacing warp and weft yarns. Together, the yarns form the surface without a knotted pile. The approximately 4–5 mm thickness refers to the rug's overall construction. The Chobi Kilim shown here was hand woven in Afghanistan. The production illustration shows work carried out on a loom.

Washing and drying are the final steps in making a Chobi Kilim. In favourable weather, the washed textiles are dried in the sun; at other times, fans assist the process. The finished rug then joins CarpetDepo's range. Choose a gentle method for care at home and entrust full cleaning to a specialist.

The Chobi Kilim rug shown here is made from wool. Its 202 × 286 cm dimensions give an area of approximately 5.78 m². This rug belongs to the Chobi Kilim type. Both a wool-suitable product and gentle handling of the hand woven surface are important when cleaning it.

The rug's own product photographs show its specific appearance. Close-ups show details of the wool surface, while full views show the entire woven rug. The photograph included in the description complements the introduction to the Chobi Kilim rug type.

Caring for and ordering the hand woven rug

Care for this woollen Kilim by vacuuming gently on your vacuum cleaner's lowest setting. Use a slightly damp cloth for small, fresh stains. Do not saturate the textile with water, and treat marks before they dry whenever possible. Careful stain treatment suited to the wool material is required.

Before using rug-cleaning foam suitable for wool, test it on a small, inconspicuous area. We recommend professional help for heavier soiling or a thorough clean. Do not clean the Chobi Kilim by beating it with a carpet beater: this can damage its hand woven structure. The accompanying illustration shows a traditional beating method to avoid; it is not a cleaning recommendation.

Avoid the rug-beating method shown in the photograph when caring for a woollen Kilim.
