This woollen Kilim rug is approximately 4–5 mm thick. Its flat-woven surface consists of two intersecting yarn systems: lengthwise warp yarns and crosswise weft yarns. Together they form a continuous textile during weaving. The 100% wool material and hand weaving are therefore two key characteristics of the same rug: one describes its material and the other how it is made.

From wool yarn to a finished Kilim rug

This Afghan Kilim is made by hand. Wool yarns guided on a loom gradually form the woven rug. Thorough washing and drying follow the weaving. Washing during production differs from caring for the finished textile at home: the wool rug must not be soaked. Caring for and ordering the hand woven rug

Care for this Chobi Kilim by vacuuming gently on a low setting. Treat small stains with a slightly damp cloth, preferably immediately. Ensure that the wool textile does not become soaked. If you use a cleaner designed for wool, first test it on an inconspicuous area. Entrust heavy soiling and full cleaning to a specialist experienced in handmade rugs. Vigorous beating and the use of a carpet beater can damage the textile and should be avoided.
