Colourful handmade oriental Kazak rug 247x302

Introducing the 247 × 302 cm Kazak rug

This Kazak rug is 247 cm wide and 302 cm long. The handmade wool rug originates from Afghanistan and is 8–10 mm thick. The rug features a beige and burgundy colour palette.

The Kazak rug is 247 cm wide, 302 cm long and 8–10 mm thick. The knot density is approximately 180,000 knots/m². This value expresses the number of knots per unit of surface area. Thickness is a separate characteristic: the two measurements describe different aspects of the knotted structure. This size may also be an option for a living room.

The knotted part of the rug is made of wool. The warp threads are wool. The fibres of the handmade pile lie in a particular direction. As a result, changes in lighting and viewing angle can make the overall appearance lighter or darker. Differences of this kind between photographs taken from opposite ends of the rug relate to the direction of the pile.

This handmade Afghan Kazak rug is an oriental rug. Its geometric patterns are complemented by a wool pile formed by hand. The rug is made using Ghiordes knots. The rug is washed four times during the final stage of production. This is part of the manufacturing process; for care at home, follow the cleaning advice below rather than the washing process used during production. After washing during production, the rug is dried in the sun.

Cleaning advice for this wool rug

When cleaning the Kazak rug, protecting the wool fibres should be your priority. Vacuum on a low setting, following the direction of the pile. Clean underneath the rug regularly too, and inspect the less visible areas from time to time. Check the less visible parts of the rug regularly for dirt as well.

For liquid spills, first blot up the moisture with a clean cloth. Do not rub the wool pile vigorously or use a cleaning product unless you know it is suitable for wool. Always test the chosen product on an inconspicuous area. Leave extensive or stubborn soiling, as well as a full clean, to a professional.
