Hand woven ethnic Afghan Chobi Kilim rug 62x87 cm

Features of the 62 × 87 cm Chobi Kilim

The Chobi Kilim rug was made from wool in Afghanistan. The textile measures exactly 62 × 87 cm and is approximately 4–5 mm thick. It is a hand woven textile whose surface is formed by interwoven yarns. The rug features red and yellow colours.

The rug's exact side measurements are 62 and 87 cm. The photograph helps you assess its appearance, but check the space required using the dimensions before ordering.

The woven surface is central to the construction of this hand woven wool rug. The Chobi Kilim is entirely made from wool; the textile is thin, approximately 4–5 mm thick. When cleaning the surface formed from wool yarns, treat it as a woven textile, protecting both the material and the weave.

The Chobi Kilim rug's wool yarns are interwoven by hand. At the end of the production process, the textile undergoes four washes. This is a finishing stage in production, not a recommendation for washing at home. During use, follow care methods that protect the finished wool surface and the weave.

Dust removal and stain treatment for the rug

Vacuum on low suction for regular cleaning of the rug. Move gently over the wool textile's surface, particularly near the edges. Avoid pulling or rubbing the textile vigorously when removing dust.

Treat fresh marks promptly: try removing them with a slightly damp cloth, without rubbing or soaking. Use a cleaner recommended for wool only according to its instructions, after testing it first. For heavier soiling, choose a specialist experienced in treating wool rugs.

Move the Kilim occasionally, clean the area underneath and inspect the textile. Because it is made from wool, protection against moths is also part of its care. Avoid traditional dust removal by beating the rug with a stick, as this can damage the weave.

Avoid the beating method shown in the photograph for this Kilim rug too.
