This Afghan runner rug with an Elephant foot pattern is a handmade Oriental rug of Afghan origin, measuring 100 × 889 cm. With its wool pile, it is 8–10 mm thick. The rug has a burgundy colour palette. The rug is made with an Elephant foot pattern.
The runner rug with an Elephant foot pattern is 100 cm wide, 889 cm long and 8–10 mm thick. Its knot density is approximately 180,000 knots/m². The knot count is given per square metre, allowing this rug to be compared with handmade Oriental rugs of different sizes in this respect. This figure does not represent the total number of knots in the entire rug. The rug may also be suitable for a hallway, provided the available space accommodates its dimensions.
The knotted part of this handmade rug is made of wool. Knotted wool fibres form the pile of the rug. Pile direction matters for more than appearance: this is also the direction to follow when vacuuming. The way the surface reflects light may vary depending on which end of the rug you view it from.
This Afghan runner rug with an Elephant foot pattern is knotted by hand. Knots formed from wool yarn make up the pile of the rug; this construction method is one of the defining features of the rug. The video showing how it is made provides an overview of the process.

Cleaning information for this Afghan rug
For routine care of this Afghan runner rug with an Elephant foot pattern, use a low suction setting on your vacuum cleaner. Work in the direction of the pile and avoid rubbing the wool surface vigorously. Remember to keep the area beneath the rug clean as well; moving the rug occasionally allows you to remove dust that has collected underneath.
For spilled liquids, first blot up the moisture with a clean cloth. Do not rub the wool surface vigorously or use a cleaning product unless you know it is suitable for wool. Always test the chosen product in a less visible area first. For extensive or stubborn soiling, or a full clean, consult a professional.
