The origin of Afghan wool carpet
This type of wool carpet is made in the northern part of Afghanistan, an area inhabited by nomads and villagers. They add a unique warm atmosphere to our homes with their varied patterns and colours as living room carpets, bedroom rugs or even for corridors as runner carpets. Afghan wool carpets are washed and sun-dried four times after making and cutting, and are also colourfast. Its colours are extracted from nature. Certain colours can only be bought from one family, and the secret of this colour has been kept for a long time, such as the Khalmohamadi family. Hence the name of the Khalmohamadi carpet. They are made of durable and strong wool. The carpets are not made in large factories but in their homes (Karkhana) by the families weaving the carpets, hence they are called Kargai carpets. It is 100% handmade carpet, from the first knotting to the washing, every task is done by human hand. A 200x300 carpet can take up to 6-12 months to make.

Where can I put the Afghan wool rug?
Because it is durable and strong, it can be placed in the busiest areas. Of course, it would be a mistake to step on such a valuable carpet with (wet, dirty) shoes. Of course, it doesn't mean that the carpet will be ruined immediately, but it will lose its lifetime. The Afghan carpet will give your home an upmarket feel with its elegance. It can also be placed under a dining table as it is easy to clean. Heavy furniture should not be placed on an Afghan rug, especially if it has thin legs. You can also put the carpet on underfloor heating because it lets the heat through.
How do I clean my Afghan oriental carpet?
Minor stains do not require much expertise. You can remove it with a slightly damp cloth. It can be vacuumed at any time, but only in the direction of the thread, as with all Oriental rugs. The worst enemy of wool carpets is moths. So it is a good idea to air more often, especially in summer, and to move the carpet occasionally to keep moths out. We recommend professional carpet cleaning companies only for larger soiling. But since it is a handmade carpet, it can be restored at any time.
