Cleaning a Mughal oriental rug
As with all oriental rugs, they can be vacuum cleaned immediately, but always in the direction of the fibre. It is typical of oriental rugs that they allow some wool fibre at the beginning of their use, but this stops over time. This is a natural process. Most dirt can be removed from the rug with a slightly damp cloth. The dirt should be removed immediately, it is not worth waiting for it to dry. For more extensive cleaning, however, you should leave it to professional rug cleaning companies. The worst enemy of oriental rugs is moths. It is therefore worth vacuuming under the rug from time to time. Do not place heavy furniture on the rug, especially if it has sharp feet.
